Fire causes evacuation of Atlantic City's Jeffries Tower

Firefighters had to evacuate nearly 300 residents from Atlantic City's Jeffries Tower after an electrical fire Thursday night. The residents were taken to the Uptown School Complex to keep warm. The fire alarm alerted the Fire Department at about 5:45 p.m. Residents were taken by jitney and emergency services to Harrah's Casino, Showboat, the Flagship, Red Roof Inn and Sheraton.
